Hugh Perryman
Wins the
April ABCD Award
“Above and Beyond
the Call of Duty”
|
Hugh Perryman, a speech and language pathologist, was honored
by the Board during the April meeting for his selection as winner of the ABCD Award.
From the Nomination Form
Hugh Bryant Perryman has been a speech and language pathologist in MCSD for over 20 years. During this time, he has
repeatedly proven his dedication to the students and teachers. He is committed to providing
quality services to the students while serving as an example to his peers
and those he leads. His efforts frequently go Above and Beyond the Call of
Duty. Among his most recent contributions are his efforts to provide and
promote inclusive speech therapy services for our students, through his participation in the GaDOE-sponsored collaborative
project.
He has further contributed greatly in his capacity as the Lead
Speech Pathologist for MCSD. As the Lead Speech Pathologist, he
assists other speech pathologists with numerous issues related to student
services, due process procedures, caseload management, and staff development,
all while continuing to serve his own caseload at Fox. He devotes
much of his time after hours to serving students and the speech therapists
he leads.
He serves on the leadership teams for both the Program for
Exceptional students and the Speech Therapy Department. His contributions to both teams have had a lasting, positive impact on students
with special needs. He has been instrumental in the revision of local
policies to align operations with Georgia state special education law, and
he has given input at the state level to the development of guidelines for
Best Practices by the Speech Therapists of Georgia.
These are but a few of
the many efforts to which he has devoted himself. He is a
thoughtful leader, never missing an opportunity to comfort, praise, and
recognize those around him. His giving spirit and willingness to
put the needs of others before his own is certainly worthy of selection of
the ABCD Award.
