Qundia Ragland
Wins the
February ABCD Award

“Above and Beyond
the Call of Duty”

Qundia Ragland, a special needs paraprofessional at Fort Middle School, was honored by the Board during the February meeting for her selection as winner of the ABCD Award.

From the Nomination Form

During the time Mrs. Ragland has been at Fort, she has proven to be a very valuable asset, not only to the special needs students and teachers, but to regular education students and teachers as well. Mrs. Ragland’s enormous capacity for compassion, coupled with her experience as a nurse, provides all who work with her valuable skills and insight for students. She loves working with the students and they love her as a teacher. Also, she is a mentor in our mentor program for at-risk students. Mrs. Ragland’s involvement with her mentee student has caused a remarkable improvement in the student’s behavior and academic performance. Outside the classroom, she assists basketball coaches with girl’s basketball tryouts. Her nursing skills have proven valuable to the school as on many occasions she has been called to the “rescue” to many who were in immediate need of medical attention. She is an employee who does provide services far beyond what is required of her. She is needed by many and respected by all!
