Wiley Waters of the Transportation Department
Wins October ABCD Award
“Above and Beyond the Call of Duty”

The Transportation Department is proud to
recognize Wiley Waters, Assistant Supervisor of the Fleet Department. He has
been a valued member of the Muscogee County School District for twenty
years. Russell Curry, Director of Transportation, said that his positive
attitude is reflected in the outstanding quality of work that he performs
daily. Under his leadership, the Fleet Department and the School District
have benefited greatly. During the October meeting, he was introduced
to the Board by Chief Operations and Facilities Officer Myles Caggins.
In nominating Wiley for this honor, Kevin Steele of the Department of
Technology Services reported the following situation as an example of
Wiley's dedication. When a vehicle used by several DOTS staff members to
attend a workshop would not start, the group was stranded in Atlanta. Wiley
and a co-worker promptly took a replacement vehicle to Atlanta on a Thursday
night and returned the same night rather than wait until Friday morning.
They wanted to be available Friday morning because this was the last day of
school and busses were scheduled to be returned to the Bus Shop.
