MCSD is not liable in most cases for students who are injured while at school.  It is the parents'/guardians' responsibility to make sure that their children are covered by medical insurance.  It is School Board Policy that all high school football participants must subscribe to the Varsity Football plan or the school must have on file proof that the parent/guardian has obtained medical coverage for the football participant.

The district offers student accident insurance to all students at a nominal fee.  The current student accident insurance rates offered through First Service Insurance Company are as follows:

School Time Coverage provides coverage to students during school hours; while attending, participating in and traveling to and from school sponsored/supervised activities on or off the school premises during the school year.  This includes school sponsored/supervised summer activities and necessary travel directly to and from the activity.

Twenty-Four-Hour Coverage provides coverage for students 24 hours a day.  This covers weekends and vacation periods, including the summer.  Students are protected at home and school.

Varsity Football Coverage provides coverage to tenth-, eleventh-, and twelfth-grade football players during football activities.  THIS PLAN PERTAINS ONLY TO HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL.   Middle school football is covered by purchasing the 24-hour coverage plan.

Parents/Guardians who do not wish to take advantage of this offer should ensure that their children are covered under a family policy or other health care coverage.
