The Columbus Exchange Club's Young Citizenship Award honors
an eighth-grader from each of MCSD's 11 middle schools and Faith Middle
School of Fort Benning. The students demonstrate good citizenship at school,
community, and home. The award is designed to recognize and encourage
students who are honest, hard-working, helpful, and fair.

CRITERIA
Citizenship - The student must be regarded as dependable and
must demonstrate respect for people, property, and the law.
Attitude - The student is courteous, helpful, and caring in relationships.
Academics - The student strives to the limits of his/her abilities.
Service - The student readily and unselfishly helps others to a level
considered exceptional for the age.
Leadership - The student demonstrates an ability to work with and
motivate others, has sound values, good judgment, and sense of fairness, and
has earned the respect of peers.
Sportsmanship - The student demonstrates an attempt to do his/her best
during athletic competitions, shows a respect for rules of competition, and
places the success of the team above personal advancement.
The student, a school representative who introduces the student, and one
parent are invited to an Exchange Club luncheon. Each student
speaks briefly and receives a certificate and a thesaurus.
