Hi-Q
1. Why do I need a remediation plan?
Any teacher who teaches one or more classes for which he/she is not clearly certified to teach is considered “not highly qualified” for that class. This teacher is required to have a remediation plan on file in the Professional Learning Department explaining the circumstances surrounding the “out of field” teaching assignment. Progress made toward becoming “highly qualified” must be tracked and monitored for auditing purposes.
2. What is Non-Renewable Certification?
Teachers who are teaching while working to fulfill Georgia teaching requirements are classified as non-renewable (NT Certs). NT certificates are temporary, and
teachers have limited time in which to fulfill all certification requirements.
3. Why do I need an NT Cert progress report?
Teachers working under a non-renewable certificate must submit an NT Certification Progress Report that is kept on file in the Professional Learning Department. Progress made toward fulfilling all teaching requirements must be tracked and monitored for auditing purposes.
